The Dulwich Alliance is considering how to approach the local council elections in May 2022 and which political party – if any – has thinking regarding LTNs, and traffic generally, most closely aligned to ours. Critical to this evaluation is understanding political party views on traffic measures in the Dulwich area, including the 24/7 closure of Dulwich Village junction.
On 17 June we circulated (from the email address dulwichallianceelections22@gmail.com) a request to the five political parties who stood candidates in local elections in 2018 (Women’s Equality Party, Conservatives, Labour, Green and Liberal Democrats), asking them to let us have their views on the Dulwich LTNs. We said that we planned to share their responses, which we are doing now.
The deadline for responses was 30 June 2021. As of 22 July 2021, only two responses have been received – from the Women’s Equality Party and the Conservatives.
Three out of five – Labour, the Green Party and the Liberal Democrats – haven’t yet replied. We very much hope they will, so that voters can understand their position on the road closures in Dulwich. We will email them again and press them to respond.
In the meantime, you can read the response from the Women’s Equality Party here; and from the Conservatives here. We will post up replies from the Liberal Democrats, the Green Party and Labour when we receive them.
Finally, if you are interested in getting involved in activities in the run-up to the local council elections in 2022 in Southwark, and Dulwich wards in particular, please contact us via dulwichallianceelections22@gmail.com.
